We were instructed by a respected firm of solicitors to act as an Expert Witness. We were acting on the behalf of the building landlord owner in respect to the recovery of costs from the subcontractor who installed a sprinkler system which caused a leak in a block of residential apartments in London, two years after it was installed.
The leak was extensive and led to damage to various apartments and communal areas within the building.
We had joint discussions and a meeting with the defendant’s expert to produce a joint statement in advance submitting the Expert Report.
The joint considerations and advice provided to our Client enabled the parties to agree a substantial sum to be paid to our Client.
The court directions for the Expert to have a joint meeting and joint statement reduced the disputed items to be considered and reported upon and enabled an early negotiated settlement.
